The Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Naxos operates a modern and traditional  Grocery – Butcher shop and mini market in Chora of Naxos.

Since the early 1980s, the Union of Agricultural Cooperatives of Naxos had created a small venue in Chora of Naxos Town in order to supply its members with appliances and necessities.

However, in 1984, the Ministry of Agriculture issued a circular, through which it financed in 100 %  the creation of cooperative butcher shops throughout Greece, but on the clear condition that butchers could never sell or manage non-local meats.

The administration of Naxos E.A.S. took advantage of this law, accepted the invitation of the Ministry and created, at the back of its offices in the Chora, its cooperative butcher shop.

The butcher shop has been detrimental for several years, but the annual General Assemblies of the E.A.S. of Naxos, continue to maintain it faithfully respecting the reason of its establishment, that was supply consumers with genuine Naxian meats.  That is the reason that Grocery – Butcher shop has acquire the prestige in the consciousness of consumers.

As time went by, this shop became a traditional but modern Grocery – Butcher shop and mini market.
